This year, again, Altavista On Track and the Altavista Journal will sponsor the Town's Sixth Annual Scarecrow Stroll. New this year: Residential Scarecrows. We are encouraging residents in town to put up Scarecrows to complement those businesses and organization Scarecrows.
This event takes place the entire month of October. Each year we welcome over 50 scarecrows to Altavista, but we want more! Visitors come from near and far to stroll downtown and see the unique sights! All are welcome to join in the fun, show their creativity and maybe win a prize! (Click here for the Application.)
Scarecrow entries can compete for two awards of $100 each.
The second award will be for the Most Creative Scarecrow to be decided by an independent group.
Both winners will be selected by Monday, October 20 and information will appear in the October 22 edition of the Altavista Journal.
This year the Altavista Christmas Parade will be on Thursday, December 4th, at 7pm. This year's theme is "Carols of Christmas," so decorate accordingly.
